Yann Aravit Segura (France, 18 October 1976) is a musician, French-Spanish bassist. He started playing the electric bass in 1995, largely motivated by the musical influence of his family: his father and grandfather were jazz drummers, his uncle was a guitarist, his mother is passionate about funk and soul music and his brother is a pianist.
London/Paris - After a trip to London in 1999, he recorded his first album, Human Lab, a deep house album with his brother on piano and keyboards. This marked the beginning of a life dedicated exclusively to music and musical education. He holds the title of 'Excellence from the Confédération Musicale de France', after several years of training at the 'Francis Darizcuren Bass Institute' in Paris.
In his early years of musical training, still in the French capital, he began to explore different sounds and studied at the Abanico Latin Music School, of which he was a member of the Cuban timba band. He later joined the Latin jazz orchestra La Madrugada Orquesta (Club Le Triton, La Java Club and Parc Floral de Paris, among others); the explosive timba orchestra Songo 21 (Prize for the best live band 2004), with which he played at various festivals in France such as Tempo Latino (Vic-Fezensac), Aquí Cuba (Rennes) or Latino Pamiers Loco (Pamiers); He also joined the Latin funk group Osmán Jr & Setenta, with which he pays tribute to great salsa figures such as Tite Curet Alonso and Cheo Feliciano.

Cuba - In 2005 he decided to travel to Cuba, settling in Guanabacoa, in order to perfect his technique and acquire new skills thanks to the teachings of the great master Feliciano Arango (Los Hermanos Arango, NG La Banda, Emiliano Salvador), considered the best timba bassist of all time by timba.com. He had the immense good fortune of being able to study the finer points of Cuban bass playing under the guidance of a musician who also taught him to play with honesty, intensity and conviction.

During his five-year stay on the island, Yann, in addition to learning the bass and double bass, studied with Eugenio Arango, Feliciano's brother and professor of percussion at the Instituto Superior de Arte, and devoted himself to in-depth research into Cuban folk music. Living with this family of great musicians and learning from them was for him a musical liberation that would help him to undertake new projects.
Madrid - After this time, he settled in Madrid, where a master class with bassist Carles Benavent awakened in him a serious interest in the sound of the bass in flamenco, which led him to move to Granada. Considered one of the cradles of flamenco, the city offered him the opportunity to learn and deepen his knowledge of this fascinating and complex musical genre on a rhythmic, harmonic and melodic level.
After a few years travelling and living in different cities, Yann settled back in Madrid and began to share his mastery in bass lessons and masterclasses, as well as embarking on collaborations with artists and groups of the most varied musical styles.
He created an electro funk duo, called EuroZone (album: Dance Spirit Dance, DiscoSoul Records), which would become a resident group on cruise ships of the American company Celebrity Cruises and with which he would perform in countries such as Peru (club Noise, club Cholo), Turkey, France and Italy. During this period he had the opportunity to play with the jazz trio of the singer Ray Brown Jr, son of Ray Brown and Ella Fitzgerald.

He was a member of the renowned flamenco jazz trio Enjhambre, with which under the direction of the Sevillian pianist Adolfo Delgado "ADE", he played in several festivals such as Summer Jazz in Cadiz, Jazz en la Costa (Almuñécar, Granada) or in clubs such as Foyer Européen in Luxembourg.
He collaborated with Jorge Pardo, both as a studio musician and on stage (Sala Galileo Galilei, Madrid), and participated with Enjhambre in the television programme Mira mi Música (Telecinco).

Currently Yann has created his own brand, Funky Duende©, is designing his own merchandising line and has recorded his first solo album called In Full Bloom. It is a fusion of funk and flamenco rhythms, the combination of which articulates a rhythmically original sound thanks to his tasty bass grooves.
In addition, he has also put his personal methodology for learning the bass guitar into a book: Develop Your Own Tone on Electric Bass, a musical method written by him to stimulate creativity.
Cádiz - In 2022 Yann settled in the province of Cádiz where he joined the Jerez-based NeoSoul group Maestro Mutante and with whom he recorded their latest album Solera Glow (2023). He is also collaborating in the new project of the Egyptian guitarist Ali Khattab based in Jerez and plays in several Cuban music groups directed by the Cuban trumpeter and pianist Denis DeSon.
He also worked alongside Ivan El Torrán de Jerez in the television contest Tierra De Talento where they reach the semi-final.
In 2024 Yann presented his own Jazz project Yann Aravit and The Funky Duendes, as well as a bass recital as a solo artist.
He has recorded several musical projects with the Quimbara Show (tribute to the Queen of Salsa Celia Cruz), Jeré con Z “Falso”, Begoña Rasero “Vente Pa El Sur” and is preparing the 2025 tour “Vuelta Al Camino” by the mythical flamenco-fusion group of the early 2000's Radio Macandé. He has previously recorded four emblematic hits “Nos Une El Destino”, “La Lola”, “Déjalo Conmigo” and “Dime Donde Esta El Cariño” in an unplugged session with the band.
